Life is funny.  Sometimes funny "ha-ha"; sometimes funny "strange."

One of us was at a crossroads -- what to do when your youngest child is off to Kindergarten?  Having a natural talent for computers, perhaps a CAD class or degree in graphic design would be a likely next step.  The other was awaiting the results of another cervical biopsy -- a wait that spawned an unusual dream; one in which she was a bald woman at the gym wearing a “No Whining” t-shirt ready to pick a fight with cancer.  It’s the blending of the two that brought about the idea for Chemo-Couture.

A couple of moms who are not above embarrassing their children by doing Rockette-style high-kicks on the driveway to the tune of a passing ice cream truck, ideas flowed quickly and easily and developed into what could only be described as our own brand of “tumor humor.”  The initial six funny t-shirt designs quickly grew to include hats, bags, scarves, jewelry, blankets, organic crèmes, medical scrubs, team wear and books – all intended to bring a little comfort and/or a little chuckle to the lives of those we knew and loved who had been diagnosed with cancer.

Like so many of you, we have seen our share of friends and loved ones battle various forms of the disease – brothers, neighbors, uncles, teachers, coaches, dear college friends – people from our generation.  What we learned was that no matter how one handles the treatments -- whether by becoming the warrior that refuses to let cancer slow him down or by retreating to a quiet place where she can focus on wellness and family – everyone needs a little pampering and lots of support.

It became our goal to provide products to make the long, difficult road to recovery a bit less bumpy.  Nearly all of our products are handmade or manufactured from our own designs and were created to make chemotherapy a little bit easier or to offer just the right gift when one can’t find the right words to say.

We feel that Chemo Couture has been Divinely guided from the start and it is our desire to “give back” pledging 5% from the gross sale of each item to the search for a cure for cancer.  We have narrowed the field to six charities to include associations, foundations and research hospitals that represent all types of cancers for all age ranges and ask that you choose where you most want our dollars to be donated.

We hope you enjoy our site.  It has been designed with great care and is filled with inspiring people and stories and dedicated to helping raise awareness and funds to fight this disease.
